Francesco Spreafico founds "Spreafico Francesco & F.lli" with his brothers Carlo and Ferdinand in Dolzago. Our first warehouse is opened to stock and sell fruits and vegetables.
In addition to selling it, we also begin to grow our produce: we set up our first farm, and open new premises in Sala Bolognese dedicated to the cultivation and processing of apples, pears and other fruits.
Con il successo di Sala Bolognese abbiamo deciso di investire nelle aziende agricole per ampliare le nostre coltivazioni: Ceregnano (RO), San Pietro in Casale (BO), Lanuvio (LT), Tito Livio (LT), Balduina (PD), Retarola (LT) e Marmorta (BO). È qui che, ancora oggi, coltiviamo pere, pere Angys, Kiwi, frutta a nocciolo e tanto altro.
Ci specializziamo nella coltivazione e nella distribuzione dei kiwi: per questo nel 1991 apriamo l’azienda agricola di Santa Maria in Codifiume (FE) e nel 1996 un nuovo stabilimento anche a Latina. Grazie alla nostra esperienza, iniziamo a commercializzare anche oltre i confini italiani, arrivando in Europa e oltreoceano.
In 2000 we begin to import pears and kiwis from the southern hemisphere in order to offer the products we are passionate about all year round. We also start importing exotic and tropical fruits from different foreign countries at this time.
With the purchase of SIEF, a group of companies specializing in importing fruit and vegetables, we strengthen our distribution operations in Italy, expanding the distribution network and supplying sales points in the most important wholesale markets in Milan, Bologna, Verona and Rome.
In Teno, Chile we open our first farm abroad, Agricola Santa Sofia, where we concentrate on the cultivation of pears, cherries, apples and plums. We inaugurate a second farm in Chile in 2013, allowing us to expand our production in this country.
We open a ripening and distribution centre in Livorno, from where we ship our products across Italy, and a reception hub for overseas produce.

After a severe fire, which destroyed much of the Dolzago warehouse, we renovate our headquarters, not to mention our first distribution centre and site of the group’s executive offices.
Make way for forest fruits: with the opening of the Verona headquarters, we turn our experience to berries.
With the aim of responding to the ever-changing needs of consumers, in Dolzago we set-up the first Spreafico factory dedicated to ready-to-eat fruit pieces— a major market for growth in the future of fruit and vegetables.
