origin

It is produced in Italy, Spain, Brasil, and Costa Rica.

aspect and taste

The Honeydew melon is different from the other ones because of its brilliant yellow colour and the white colour of the pulp. The other features are the same of the classic melons. The yellow melons are typical for the large and round shape and the uniform, yellow and soft skin. The pulp is light green, juicy and sweet. There is also the Honeydew melon with orange tones; the flavour is similar to the Cantaloupe melon.

maintenance

The most ripe Honeydew melons can be conserved at 45-50 degrees F/7-10 centigrade degrees. The exposition to the ethylene can help the softening of the fruit and improve the colour change from green to yellow-cream.

use in the kitchen

It is used in the preparation of appetizers, fruit salads, sweets and ice-creams.
