This central american fruit is round, with a purple-violet skin. Inside it is full of edible seeds and a gelatinous orange-green pulp with a strong fragrance and intense flavour.
As it produces a high quantity of ethylene it has to be conserved separated from the other fruits to protect the conservation of each fruit. It is responsive to the temperature differences, so avoid to put it at less than 45 degrees F/7°C for more than 7 days.
It is usually consumed when it is fresh, but it can be used to prepare creams, sherbets and juices. You can conserve it well and it has got relaxing properties.
