Italy is the main producer in the world of table grape. After Italy, the other producers are Chile, California and Argentina.
It has got large, long black-violet bunches with a cylindrical-pyramid or conical shape. The grapes are quite large and oval, with a medium-thick frosty skin. They have a lasting flavour which changes depending on the varieties.
If you conserve the grapes at high temperatures you can cause the deterioration and damages to the fruit. To avoid this fact, keep the fruit at 32-36 degrees F/0-2 centigrade degrees. Also the exposition to ethylene for long periods can cause the deterioration and damages. Keep the grape far from products that produce ethylene and far from ripening rooms.
Grapes are extremely digestive and has many therapeutic qualities; first of all it has laxative and diuretic function. It is helpful against dyspepsia, haemorrhoids, urinary and bile ducts stones. It also stimulates epathic functions, helps digestion, reduces cholesterol level in blood and eliminates uric acid. It has to be consumed fresh or in fruit salads and it can also be used to prepare sweets, jams, jellies and sherbets.
