Blackberries grow spontaneously all around Europe, in the woods, in the Mediterranean scrub, in the hedges; they are also cultivated, especially in the U.S.A., Italy and Holland.
It is an aggregate fruit made of many succulent drupes of a dark colour, almost black. The fruits of high quality should be dry, clean, succulent, shining and with a good colour.
They are very responsive to the ice. Do not conserve them at less than 30 degrees F/-1 centigrade degrees. They perish very rapidly; handle them with attention and consume them immediately after the delivery.
Blackberries contain a good quantity of fibres, vitamin C and mineral salts as calcium, phosphorus and potassium.
